In order to model what Darwin noticed about bird beaks in the Galapagos Islands, students will participate in a lab modelling how some beaks are more adapted to eat the food of a particular island than others. Students will travel through 5 islands using a specific beak to consume the food source on that island. Students will notice how survival is easy on some islands because the beaks are well adapted to the food there, while nearly impossible on other islands. Students will use their data to complete a series of graphs and a lab analysis which will be used as an assessment for the standard of scientific communication. Students that miss class should check in with Ms Lea to see how to make up the lab.
